StarShip expands its LTL offerings with the addition of Roadrunner Transportation
Systems. The Roadrunner module allows you to rate via the Internet, giving
you live access to negotiated rates. In addition, you can track shipments
and get proof of delivery. The Roadrunner module supports standard LTL
shipments to destinations throughout the USA and Canada. StarShip prints
the BOL and the package/pallet labels.
Roadrunner setup is accessible from Setup > Carrier Interface >
Roadrunner Transportation Systems. For instructions on adding a Roadrunner
account, see Account Setup.
The Main tab consists of two general Roadrunner settings that you can
- Disable use of Roadrunner Transportation Systems:
Check this option if you do not want Roadrunner to be available
for rating or shipping. Roadrunner will not appear in the Carrier
field on the Shipment tab.
- Enable background tracking : Background tracking
collects shipment data so that you can look up delivery information
for past shipments and generate late deliveries reports from the StarShip
Background tracking must be generally enabled for StarShip in the StarShip
Server under Tools > Options >
Background Tracking. It can then be enabled/disabled for each
individual carrier in carrier setup.
The Carriers tab will only show Roadrunner Transportation Systems as
a supported carrier. Entries cannot be added or deleted.
The Roadrunner Interface
must have at least one default account to be available for shipping. Accounts
are set up per Location.
Follow these steps to set up your Roadrunner account in StarShip.
- On the Accounts tab, click Add.
- Enter your account information. Then, click OK.
- Account Name : Enter a unique name to identify
this account in StarShip.
- Account Number : Enter the company's Roadrunner
Transportation Systems account number.
- User ID/Password : Enter your Roadrunner Transportation
Systems user ID and password. The User ID and Password are used to
access your discounted rates.
- Company Name, Contact, and Address fields : Type
in your company name, contact info, and address or select a Sender
Address from the Address ID field to automatically populate the fields.
Note : The account address must match the address for the account
number provided. The account address zip code will be used for rating.
Shipment Pickup (Request shipment pickup) : Check this option
if you want StarShip to automatically send a pickup request to Roadrunner
when a shipment is processed.
Notes about Shipment Pickup Requests
- In order for the "Req.
shipment pickup" option to function, the Tendering Type for the
account must be set to "Electronic" under Account Settings
- Once the shipment is successfully processed, the
pickup is scheduled. The Ship/Process Results will confirm the pickup
and display the service center that will be handling the pickup. For
example, "Pickup Schedule to RRTS
Terminal : Charlotte (800) 582-9292."
- Sender Contact, Email, and Phone Number are required
for shipment pickup. The Sender Email address will receive the Roadrunner
Quick Pickup Request email confirmation
with shipment pickup information.
- Shipment Pickup requests can only be made for outgoing
- Roadrunner currently does not support pickup requests
- Click OK. The account appears in the Accounts list.
This section allows you to change specific settings for the listed accounts.
If you set up multiple accounts, you can maintain different settings for
each account. To change settings for accounts, click on the account and
then make your changes by selecting from the drop-down lists.
Default Prepaid Billing Type : This is the default
Billing Type for shipments that are paid for by the shipper. You can
select from Sender or any other 3PL that you set up in Maintain
> 3PL. These settings affect the options available under Billing
on the Shipment tab.
: The choices are Electronic, Call or Daily Pickup. StarShip only
sends a pickup request to Roadrunner when "Electronic" is
selected. For the other options, you must contact the carrier directly.
Disabled : Check to disable this account. Once
disabled, you will not be able to rate or ship using this account
and it will not be available in the Accounts drop-down field.
To request pickup via the web, check the "Request
Shipment Pickup" check box.
This tab displays the supported billing types and shipment options available
for Roadrunner Transportation Systems.
