Dependable Highway Express Setup


StarShip directly integrates with Dependable Highway Express (DHE) to provide rating and tracking via the Internet for LTL shipments to the USA (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). StarShip prints the BOL, package, and pallet labels, which you can configure in Printer setup under Manage Labels and Manage Documents.


You'll need your Dependable "Customer Code" during this setup, so have that number handy. The Customer Code is your account number. If you do not know this number, please call Dependable Customer Service at (800) 548.8608 x4950, or inquire by email at


Add an Account

  1. Select Setup > Carrier Interface > Dependable.
  2. On the Accounts tab, click the Add... button.

  3. Enter the account information:



  1. Click OK. The account is added to the Accounts tab.

  2. This Carrier Account Settings section allows you to change specific settings for this Dependable account. If you set up multiple accounts, you can maintain different settings for each account. To change settings for accounts, click on the account and then make your changes by selecting from the drop-down lists.

Disable use of Dependable

Check this option to disable the Dependable carrier engine. Dependable  is still available for rating or shipping if selected as a carrier for Enterprise TMS or Freightquote.


Enable background tracking

Background tracking collects shipment data so that you can look up delivery information for past shipments and generate late deliveries reports from the StarShip Dashboard.

Background tracking must be generally enabled for StarShip in the StarShip Server under Tools > Options > Background Tracking. It can then be enabled/disabled for each individual carrier in carrier setup.

Carriers Tab

The Carriers tab will only show Dependable Highway Express as a supported carrier. Entries cannot be added or deleted.
