Dayton Freight Lines


StarShip expands its LTL offerings with the addition of Dayton Freight Lines. The Dayton module allows you to rate via the Internet, giving you live access to negotiated rates. In addition, you can track shipments, request pickup, get proof of delivery, and generate the BOL. Dayton Freight supports LTL shipments to destinations in the USA and Canada.


Dayton Web Services

In order to use the Dayton Freight module in StarShip, you must enable web services for your Dayton web account. If you do not have a web account, you can set one up by clicking this link :

To enable web services :


  1. Log in to your account on
  2. Click the Shipping menu and select "My Account".

  3. Under the My Account section, click "Update Web Account Information".

  4. For the "Enable web services" option, select Yes.

  5. Click Save.
    You can now continue with StarShip setup.


Dayton Freight setup is accessible from Setup > Carrier Interface > Dayton Freight. For instructions on adding an Dayton Freight account, see Account Setup.



Main Tab

The Main tab consists of two general Dayton Freight settings that you can configure :


Carriers Tab

The Carriers tab will only show Dayton Freight Lines as a supported carrier. Entries cannot be added or deleted.

Accounts tab

The Dayton Freight interface must have at least one default account to be available for shipping. Accounts are set up per Location.


Account Setup


  1. On the Accounts tab, click Add.
  2. Enter your account information :
  3. Account Name : Enter a unique name to identify this account in StarShip.
  4. Account Number : Enter the company's Dayton Freight Lines account number.
  5. User ID/Password : Enter your Dayton Freight Lines user ID and password. Note : The User ID and Password are used to access your discounted rates.

  1. Enter the company address and other information.
  2. Req. shipment pickup (Request shipment pickup) : Check this option if you want StarShip to automatically send a pickup request to Dayton Freight when a shipment is processed. Once the pickup is scheduled, an e-mail confirming the pickup is sent to the e-mail on the account from the applicable service center. Note : In order for  "Req. shipment pickup" option to function, the Tendering Type for the account must be set to "Electronic" under Account Settings (below).
  3. Click OK. The account appears in the Accounts list.


Account Settings

This section allows you to change specific settings for the listed accounts. If you set up multiple accounts, you can maintain different settings for each account. To change settings for accounts, click on the account and then make your changes by selecting from the drop-down lists.

This tab displays the supported billing types and shipment options available for Dayton Freight Lines.
