Failed to create SY_Preinstallation Object. The RPC Server is unavailable.

 

Possible Problems

This occurs in version 4.10 or higher and is caused by Sage components not being registered properly on the server. It can be caused by an idle/stuck pvxcom.exe or pvxwin.exe on any Sage 100 workstation.

 

Solution

  1. In order to run the installation for StarShip Link 2.1, Sage 100 should be closed on ALL workstations.  All users should exit the program.
  2. If pvxcom.exe or pvxwin32.exe is still running on the Client machine after having all users exit Sage 100, exiting the MAS Desktop on all stations and stopping the Sage 100 Service, the processes should be terminated. A reboot of each Sage 100 Desktop may be necessary.
  3. For situations in which pvxcom.exe needs to be registered, go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sage\Common Components\ directory and double-click the regcom.bat file. You should get a message that registration was successful. Restart the installation.
