Setup

This section explains how to set up Fishbowl so you can ship with StarShip.

Prerequisites

Create the Data Source

Each workstation using the StarShip and Fishbowl clients must have the OBDC connection set up individually. Database connections can be added directly through the Windows Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC). The necessary drivers can be found at https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/. Follow steps 1 - 8 under ODBC Setup in the Fishbowl documentation to set up an ODBC connection to your Fishbowl database.

Add Company

StarShip allows you to import and ship with more than one set of company information. For each company, you can assign a specific interface that includes your customized field mapping and data translations. This procedure shows you how to select which Fishbowl companies will be accessible from StarShip. Use the steps below to add a company.

Note : The Data Source name must be the same on all StarShip Client computers.

  1. In the StarShip window, click Setup > Source Interface > Fishbowl Interface. If you don't see this, select Use Source and choose Fishbowl Interface.

  2. From My Companies, click Add Company.

  3. On the Companies dialog, click the Create Connection button.

  4. Select Microsoft ODBC Data Source and click OK.

  5. In Connection Properties, define the connection parameters. From the "Use user or system data source name" field, select Fishbowl and click OK.

  6. The Connection is tested; click OK.

  7. The Company information is populated on the Companies dialog. Enter the Company Name that should display in StarShip. Click Finish.

  8. The company you added appears in the Company list. You can view details in the grid below. You are ready to start shipping!
